Mitigation
Mitigation is the beginning part of restoration. This stage must be done correctly to properly restore and remediate damage. If mitigation is done improperly, the property risks developing mold or other toxic growth. Mitigation for different disasters can look different.
Our Team.
Water Damage
Water damage is classified into three categories:
Category 1
Category 1 water is regarded as clean and poses minimal risks from skin contact, ingestion, or inhalation. Examples include water from ruptured supply lines, clean overflows, or appliance malfunctions. It can turn into Category 2 or 3 if left untreated. If the Category 1 water infiltrates into a clean building, the category remains the same. If it involved a contaminated space, the category changes. There may be development of microorganisms in the water itself, and it may alter its category over time, especially if the temperatures are high. Category 1 water degrades, and the bad odors form.
Category 2
Category 2 water contains significant contamination and has the potential to cause discomfort or sickness if contacted or consumed by humans.
Category 3
Category 3 water is grossly contaminated and contains pathogenic, toxigenic, or other harmful agents and can cause significant adverse reactions to humans if contacted or consumed.
Each category requires specific steps to restore the property. Covenant Restorations follows the standard of the WRT, Water Remediation Technician, which sets the guidelines for restoration. Our team members are certified and knowledgeable about these steps and would be more than willing to answer questions about your exact restoration steps.
Storm Mitigation
Storm Mitigation due to the contaminants that the water goes through is almost always classified as Category 3. While storm mitigation can differ due to the type of storm impact, the process is taken care of with dedication to sanitation. Since the water inside the property is contaminated with category three water it poses a risk to health even if just exposed to it. Responding and reacting to storm damage promptly gives Covenant Restorations the ability to remediate current damage and prevent future damage from developing due to storm damage.
Sewage Remediation
Sewage remediation is a hazardous process. Crew members must be properly trained and protected with PPE to clean sewage accurately. Sewage water is a Category three, which poses a risk of health disturbances and is a prime environment for growing bacterial, fungal, viral, and parasitic diseases.
Covenant Restorations follows the standard set by the IICRC and we do our best to even go beyond the base requirements. We are committed to you and your property and using our expertise to restore your property and life.
Drying Process
Mitigation involves using specific equipment like air movers, air scrubbers, and dehues to remove existing water and remediate existing mold. This process can be loud and disturbing; depending on the extent of the original damage, the property may be unusable. If the property is still useable and or livable, it is vital to leave equipment on until trained crew members can check on its progress and remove it.
